Playing Blackjack: Placing a Bet

So, you know the premise behind the game of Blackjack and you even know that you want to start out with a table that deals from a shoe and you may also want to start out with lower limit tables, but do you know how to place the bet?  The great thing about Blackjack is that the game is really easy to learn and the process of placing a bet is no different than just about every other aspect of the game.  In fact, this isn’t even something that you need to practice, once you know what to do you can just do it, and you’ll be able to do it like a pro each and every time!

Placing a Bet When you play Blackjack you’ll notice that in front of every seat there is a circle or a box for each players bets.  Before the dealer starts dealing cards you will place your bet into the circle in a single stack.  When you are playing in a casino and you are using chips with different values you will want to place the chips with the larger value on the bottom of the stack.  When you place your bet the dealer will usually give a last call for bets and once the cards have been dealt you are not allowed to touch the bet.  When the hand is complete the dealer will move from left to right, paying those that have won and collection from those that have lost.

If you win you are free to remove the chips once the dealer has paid you and if you would like you can place your next bet.  You can also choose to let your winnings ride, and in this case you will form one stack of chips with the larger denominations being placed on the bottom, as always.

As you can see, placing a bet in Blackjack is not at all difficult, you simply needed to know what the box or circle was for and now you are ready to play!  Your bet amount will largely determined by the table you are sitting at, with their being $5 tables, $25 tables, and $100 minimum tables, and others depending on where you play.  The different table limits are nice because you can choose the table that you are comfortable playing at depending on your budget and you may very well surprise yourself at how much you can win, even at the lower level tables.

Much of the reason that a lot of people like Blackjack is because it is so simple and straight forward.  The premise of the game, the values of the cards, and even placing bets is really simple and even if you are a bit standoffish from card games, this is one that you can play.  It’s not difficult and even beginners find themselves winning, having a good time, and playing like they have always known how to play!
